Little League softball: Escanaba blanks Kingsford, 11-0
Esky advances to face Norway at 6 p.m. today
NORWAY — The Escanaba Major Little League softball team blanked Kingsford 10-0 in the District 10 opener at Marion Park on Thursday.
Kingsford never got comfortable in the batter’s box against pitcher Aubrey Stropich. She struck out the side in the first and went on to throw a complete game no-hitter, collecting 11 strikeouts.
Escanaba notched a run in the top of the first before adding five in the second to provide breathing room.
Madelynn Kreider started on the mound for Kingsford before a line drive hit her in the knee and forced an early exit in the third inning.
Escanaba moves on to play Norway at 6 p.m. CST today. Kingsford plays at 10 a.m. Saturday against the loser of Escanaba and Norway.
