Channing beats Negaunee, 13-3
CHANNING — Channing overpowered the Negaunee Blasters 13-3 in Superiorland Baseball League action on Monday.
Negaunee (0-4) tallied a couple runs in the top of the first before Channing answered with nine in the bottom half. Negaunee faced 15 Channing hitters in the first.
Mike Miller had a double and RBI single for the Railroaders (4-0). Ben McLellan had a two RBI-single in the third. Brian Harper had three infield singles. Luke Holsworth, Lane Holsworth, Barry Holsworth, Wade Holsworth, Ken Pekarek and Kyle Sexton all had a hit.
Sexton pitched three innings for Channing, giving up three runs on three hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. Miller pitched the final two innings and gave up no hits with no strikeouts and no walks.
Luke Mattson, Tyler O’Connor and Julian Hornback had hits for Negaunee.
Wes Johnson started on the mound for Negaunee. He pitched 1/3 innings before he was relieved by Jadan Grobarle and Jake Jandron.

Marquette County 14, Gwinn 1
In other Superiorland play, the Marquette County Mavericks beat the Gwinn Travelers 14-1 in five innings.
Steve Hintsala pitched two perfect innings and struck out three. Riley Lynch pitched the final three innings and gave up two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.
Spencer Larson went 3 for 4 with a double and two runs scored while James Larsen was 2 for 3 with a double, walk and run.
Lynch, Hintsala, Jeremy Rae and Brad Jalonen also had multiple hits. Hintsala and Jalonen homered.
Coldwell Banker beat State Farm 20-1 in the other SBL game.
Channing hosts CBCH at 6 p.m. on Monday. Negaunee plays State Farm Jill Leonard. Marquette County has the week off.
