Knights’ cross country pressing on

NORWAY — The young Norway Knights continue the cross cross season Tuesday in the Escanaba Invite.

Norway opened the season Tuesday in the Munising Invite. Junior Jessica LaCount, the only girl on the team, finished 23rd with a medal-winning time of 24 minutes, 46 seconds.

“I am looking for some great times from Jessica who trained the entire summer,” said Norway coach Rae Anne Seat.

Sixty-one varsity girls competed at Munising. Norway’s boys placed 11th in the team standings.

Adam Cavagnetto, 26th (20:08), led the Knights, followed by Jeffrey VanHolla, 39th (21:20); James Robertson, 57th (23:07); and Chance Edick, 63rd (32:38).

“Jeff VanHolla was always strong and consistent in the past,” Seat said. “Newcomer Adam Cavagnetto runs for life and is so eager I am looking forward to some great times from him.”

Freshman Drew Anderson is also on the team.

“I am looking forward to this year,” Seat said. “I have some new recruits. We are young, but tenacious and eager.”
