Tennis: IM, Ishpeming draw 4-4
IRON MOUNTAIN — Iron Mountain and Ishpeming played to a 4-4 draw Thursday in high school girls tennis at Amos Marston Eastside Courts.
“We had a tough match,” said IM coach Tony Tatangelo, noting splits in both singles and doubles.
The Mountaineers took one and four singles, with Jorden Stoner and Megan Murray.
“Jorden Stoner came out strong with her over-heads and shot placement,” Tatangelo said. “She had the Ishpeming girl on the run. Megan held her own in winning in three sets.”
IM No. 2 singles Arianna Morel lost in three sets.
“Arianna had a tough match but hung in there until the end,” Tatangelo said.
Mountaineers’ top two doubles, Saylor Swartout-Claire Mongrain and Megan Garvaglia-Bella Brown, chalked up wins.
“My one doubles came out a little soft but kicked it up,” Tatangelo said. “Megan and Bella played together well today. They were communicating, hitting the ball well, and just having fun.”
Iron Mountain will not play today’s match with West Iron County. The Mountaineers host Marquette on Monday.
