Badgers hold off Suring, STAA

SURING, Wis. — Niagara outlasted Suring 3-2 and defeated STAA 3-0 for the second time this week in M&O Conference volleyball Thursday.

The Badgers beat the host Eagles 25-20, 25-16, 10-25, 15-25, 15-5.

“We came out against Suring playing strong,” said Niagara Coach Carol St. Arnauld. “During games three and four, the team lost focus, made silly mistakes and let it snowball. We ended game five playing like we started.”

STAA fell to the Badgers by 25-8, 25-21, 25-15. The two teams met Tuesday in Niagara.

“We were able to take STAA in three games but it wasn’t without some inconsistencies,” St. Arnauld said.

Jasmine Racine’s 20 kills, Julia Browns’ 30 assists and Faith Borchardt’s 37 led the Badgers in the two matches.

“This team has the potential to do some great things but we need to play consistent, communicate and play up to their potential at all times,” St. Arnauld said. “Confidence is going to be the key to this team’s continued success.”

Niagara (6-11, 3-3) visits Wausaukee on Tuesday.
