Bruce won the boys meet in a course and meet record of 16 minutes, 5.2 seconds, just over 55 seconds ahead of runner-up Uriah Aili of Wakefield-Marenisco-Bessemer, who posted 17:00.5.
The Gogebic County three-school alliance won the team title with 58 points, 15 ahead of second-place Houghton’s 73.
Brandon Malberg finished 14th (18:03) to lead Kingsford’s boys, followed by Luke Sturm, 67th, 21:10; and Parker Morgan, 73rd, 21:39.
Paupore crossed the girls’ finish line in 18:57.1, nearly 56 seconds ahead of runner-up Anabel Needham of Houghton’s 19:52.9 as runner-up.
But the Gremlins took the team title in a close race between a trio of Copper Country schools. Houghton scored 91 points to 95 for Hancock and 101 for Chassell.
Lily Menghini was the top Flivver girl, taking 10th in 20:45. She was trailed by Sarah Kulas, 19th, 21:20; Gabby Carey, 62nd, 24:23; Grace Cole, 76th, 25:11; and Emily Curtis, 79th, 25:32.
“I really liked the way our front runners were very competitive despite the cooler temperatures and the rain,” said Kingsford head coach Dan Carey. “Many of our runners had their personal best times or season best times.”
