Football: Wykons rout Manistique, 41-0
MANISTIQUE — West Iron County scored 35 first-half points and dominated Manistique 41-0 in West PAC football Friday.
The Wykons (3-0) produced 295 yards of total offense to 85 for the shorthanded Emeralds (0-3), who started the game with 12 players and finished with 11.
“I was happy we got the second group in at the end of the first half and they played the second half,’ said WIC head coach Mike Berutti. “I’m glad the younger kids got to play. I was impressed with Blake Lindberg and Noah Lewis running.”
Bryant Schram (three yards), quarterback Trey Bociek (one), Lindberg (10) and Nathan Thomson (five) ran for scores. Caden Pellizzer made a one-handed grab of a nine-yard pass from Bociek.
Defensively, Zach Quintero returned a pass interception 35 yards for a score in the second quarter. The Emeralds did not a have a first down in the first half while the Wykons had 16.
West Iron hosts Calumet on Friday.
