Boys basketball: Trojans beat Mid Peninsula

CRYSTAL FALLS — Forest Park, led by Tommy Showers’ 16 points and 12 rebounds, downed Mid Peninsula 67-33 in Skyline Central Conference boys basketball Monday at Eddie Chambers Gymnasium.

“The kids did a good job for the most part,” said Trojans coach Chris Nocerini. “We came out with more energy in our first home game and Parents Night.”

Max Nylund added nine points for the Trojans (1-1, 1-0) while Gavin Johnson, Tommy Peltoma, Daniel Franz and Riley Hendrickson each had eight.

“We hit the glass well and defended well,” Nocerini said.

Zach Englund’s 16 points paced the Wolverines.

Forest Park travels to Big Bay de Noc on Thursday for a varsity-only contest. Start time is 6 p.m. (Eastern time).

Forest Park defeated Mid Peninsula in the junior varsity game. The Wolverines’ roster has four eighth-graders and two seventh-graders along with a sophomore and freshman.
