Boys basketball: Hot shooting carries Miners over WIC
IRON RIVER — Negaunee’s hot shooting thwarted West Iron County 60-40 in a West PAC game Monday.
The Miners poured on 20 points in the first quarter for a 12-point lead. The Wykons (8-8) never got within 10 points of the lead.
“They were dead red hot in the first half,” West Iron County head coach Dan Schive said. “As a fan it would’ve been fun to watch. As a coach from the opposing team, it was hard to watch. But what are you going to do with a team that’s hot?”
Peyton Williams and James Swanson each had 10 points to lead West Iron.
“We got beat by a better team,” Schive said. “We played hard, we just got beat by a better team.”
Jason Waterman led Negaunee with 19 points.
Negaunee JV won.
