Felch’s Jacobson earns more basketball honors

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. — Lakeland University’s Miranda Jacobson has received a double dose of honors in recognition for her outstanding play last week.

Jacobson, a senior from Felch, was named Monday to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, her first time receiving the national honor.

She also was named the women’s basketball student-athlete of the week by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference on Tuesday, receiving the conference’s weekly honor for the second time this season and the third time in her career.

Jacobson was one of five players who received the D3hoops award. She received the honor after a huge week when she led Lakeland to a 2-0 record with a pair of wins in NACC play.

Jacobson averaged 27.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 8 assists over two games, shooting 63.3 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw stripe.

She posted her second career triple-double with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists on Thursday against Milwaukee School of Engineering, and then finished with a career-high 36 points plus 12 rebounds in an 89-81 overtime win over Concordia University Wisconsin.

Jacobson is averaging 14.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game this season, leading the Muskies in rebounds and assists and ranking second in scoring, steals, field goal percentage (47.8 percent) and free throw percentage (79.6 percent).

She also ranks third in the NACC in rebounding and assists per game, sixth in scoring and free throw percentage, 10th in field goal percentage and tied for 10th in steals per game.
