Girls basketball: Clifford sisters, Norway roll in win

EBEN JUNCTION — The Clifford sisters triggered a first quarter run as Norway spilled Superior Central 55-28 in a Skyline Central Conference game Tuesday.

Haley Clifford and her younger sister Mackenzie each scored 11 of their game-high 16 points in the first quarter. The Knights (4-12, 4-4) rolled 24-1 in the opening period.

“We had a big first quarter offensively and defensively by the Clifford sisters that built us a lead and gave us momentum that we were able to keep the entire game,” said Knights coach Joe Tinti. “We had a great team effort with everyone scoring and executing our defensive game plan.

“We had a high shooting percentage and deflected passes all night. It’s fun to watch this team play when they are firing on all cylinders.”

Norway hosts Mid Peninsula tonight in a make-up game.
