MUNISING — Dickinson Amateur Hockey Association’s mBank Squirts bowed twice to Calumet and finished runner-up in the age 9-10 district tournament.
Calumet advanced to the state tournament by beating mBank 5-3 in the finals.
“MBank played great hockey,” said Lance Doenier, an mBank coach. “The mBank coaches are proud of their team’s performance and teamwork in Munising.”
DAHA mbank opened pool play by downing Marquette and Manistique by 6-3 scores. Calumet closed pool play with a 4-1 win over mBank.
In the semifinals, mBank topped Escanaba 4-2.
“Goals were scored by numerous players, with assists outnumbering goals,” Doenier said. “The defensive lines did a great job protecting their zone while the offensive lines worked well together to score.
“Goalie Alex Hemgren was very sound all weekend.”
