Prizes awarded at Badwater Bass Tourney

FLORENCE, Wis. — JD Castings of Kingsford was the winning team at the Badwater Bass Tourney that took place earlier this month on the Twin Falls Flowage in Spread Eagle, Wis.

Rodney DeClark and John Trulock registered six bass weighing a total of 18 pounds, which was 3 pounds more than last year’s winners caught and released.

They received a cash prize of $1,383.75.

The largest single bass, a largemouth weighing 4.25 pounds, was caught by Jon Cieslak of Hartland, Wis. He received a Humminbird fish finder donated by event sponsor Nine Lakes Sport & Marine in Florence.

The top seven teams received cash prizes totaling $2,921.

Next year’s tourney will be Saturday, July 13.

Other prizes were donated by the following businesses: Maxsells Restaurant & Suites, El Capitan Supper Club, Tavern on Central, Saloon No. 2, Northern Lites and Whisler Outdoors.

David Kasten, director of the Tourism Association of the Dickinson County Area, brought in the “Larry Smith Outdoors” show to film portions of the event.

Other top finishers were: Thomas Homan, Zach Wallace (16.65 pounds) of Cecil, Wis.; Dave and Robin Lyman (15.45 pounds) of Sturtevant, Wis.; Mike Ninnemann and Jesse Delfosse (14.9 pounds) of Wausaukee, Wis.; George Freeman and Brad Gunville (14.8 pounds) of Iron Mountain; Dan Biernarz and Russ Marton (14.65 pounds) of Iron Mountain; Greg and Rachel Werner (12.85 pounds) of Niagara, Wis.; Aric Fick and Dylon Gilligan (12.2 pounds) of Lena, Wis.; Casey Wallace and Kellen McCollican (12.05 pounds) of Wausaukee; and Nick Lewis and Joel Vanlanen (11.35 pounds) of DePere, Wis.

Event organizers and volunteers included Pat Smith, Tommy Podnar, Katie Renschen, Kent Hultstrand, Lisa Smith, Laura Johnson, Jacob Smith, Kyle Smith, Lori Moore and Wendy Gehlhoff.
