Trap shooters compete at Long Lake picnic

LONG LAKE, Wis. — The Big 4-Plus Sportsman’s Club held its annual membership picnic under beautiful skies at the clubhouse in Long Lake with nearly 50 trap shooters taking part.

The 50-Bird Lewis Shoot had 48 entries and paid out five classes, with each class winning $80. Shooters were allowed two entries. Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot offs.

The winners, all from Wisconsin, and their scores were: Russ Bouck, Amhurst Junction, 50; Mark McHugh, Newald, 47; Bill Kramer, Lena, 44; Dan Traxler, Oshkosh, 42; and Harry Wellhouse, Two Rivers, 39.

Buck Brede won the consolation shoot for $57. Lewis class shooters could also play options, which paid $90 each. Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot offs. Ed Borske of Alvin won 25 straight on traps 1 and 2. Russ Bouck was High Gun, and Rea Dorzok of New Holstein won the new Ladies High Gun category.

Numerous steak, bacon and chicken competitions were held resulting in spirited shoot offs.
