Advisory issued on Florence virus exposure

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Florence County Health Department has received notification of a positive case of coronavirus infection, with the person coming in close contact with others whose names are unknown, said Annette Seibold, agency director.

Florence establishments visited by the individual include Northern Lites Bar on Tuesday between 3:30 and 5 p.m., and at Dina Mia restaurant from 5 to 7 p.m. on the same night. On Thursday, the individual was at the Tavern on Central from 5:50 to 7 p.m.

Michigan health officials are contacting others with whom the person had close contact, Seibold said. The individual’s primary residence is not Florence County.

Once a person tests positive for COVID-19, contact tracing begins, Seibold explained. When it is not possible to specifically identify contacts from an exposure during which adequate physical distancing was not maintained, a press release will be issued to allow the public to better know their potential exposure risk.

“If you think you were exposed at the establishment during this time, stay home and isolate and call your health care provider for further direction,” Seibold advised.

Florence County establishments have been contacted by the health department and continue to follow safety guidelines, she said.
