Iron County Medical Care Facility employee tests positive for virus

CRYSTAL FALLS — Iron County Medical Care Facility was notified today that one of its employees has been tested and confirmed positive for COVID-19.

“The facility has reported the positive employee case to all appropriate agencies and at this time no further recommendations have been made,” said Jessica Schultz, diversional therapy director at ICMCF.

Weekly testing of staff has occurred since early July and will continue as directed by the state. Staff were last tested on Wednesday and the facility is awaiting results from that testing.

“At this time staff continue to follow all infection control practices related to COVID-19 to keep our residents and employees safe,” said Schultz.

Employees continue to be screened upon entering the building. Weekly testing of residents will resume due to the identification of this case and will continue until 14 days after the last positive test result.

ICMCF will continue to keep residents and their representatives updated with new information as it becomes available.
