Rehearsals begin Tuesday for annual Holy Tuesday service

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Community Chorus will begin Tuesday to prepare for the annual Holy Tuesday ecumenical service.

Rehearsals will be 7 to 9 p.m. each Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church on Hamilton Avenue in Kingsford.

The Community Chorus and the Iron Mountain Area Clergy Association will host the service April 16 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway, beginning with a prelude at 7 p.m. and the service at 7:30 p.m.

The ecumenical service is comprised of scripture readings and choral anthems based on the Lenten season and the Passion of Jesus Christ.

The chorus will be directed by associate conductor Gail Vornkahl and accompanied on piano by Jean Panek. Several of the choral anthems will also be accompanied by instrumentalists from the community.

The Community Chorus members are choral musicians from Dickinson County and the surrounding area, including towns in upper Wisconsin.

No audition is necessary to be a member; however, experience in choral singing is suggested.

For more information on the event, contact Vornkahl at gailvornkahl@communitychorus.org or calling 906-396-2708.
