Art in the Garden fundraiser Saturday

Art in the Garden scholarship fundraiser will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the home of James and Lynn Stankevich, 105 Main St. in Goodman.

GOODMAN, Wis. — The eighth annual Art in the Garden scholarship fundraiser will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the home of James and Lynn Stankevich, 105 Main St. in Goodman.

Those attending can take in the garden paths and yard and shop at vendors tucked among the hostas, lilies, ferns and ponds. Jewelry work, quilted items, candles, soaps and other forms of crafts and art such as paintings, pottery, cloth works, metal work and garden art are set up beneath towering maples or in the sunken gazebo-area garden.

The band Cuttin’ Grass will be on the grounds from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide live music.

The Stankevichs remind shoppers food and other refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the five-hour event.

The event is sponsored by the Stankevichs and the Varsity Club of Goodman-Armstrong Creek Schools. Money raised goes toward scholarships or other needs. In the Stankevichs’ case, the scholarships honor their son, Brian, who was lost to cancer at a very young age.

The Varsity Club will sell hot dogs, bratwurst, hamburgers and beverages, with all profits going to scholarships as well. Among the extras will be homemade sauerkraut carefully prepared by Brian’s grandparents. In addition, pure maple syrup from Brian’s uncle will be offered for sale.

More than 30 vendors will be on hand, as well as bucket drawings. Guests may purchase drawing tickets the day of the event and need not be present to win.

In case of rain, the event will be moved to the Goodman Fire/Rescue Hall.
