Good Friday service planned
IRON MOUNTAIN — Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church will again present its Good Friday service, “The Service of Tenebrae,” which means “darkness or shadows,” at 8 p.m. April 19.
Tenebrae is a dramatic meditation on Christ’s suffering through the eyes and ears of his disciples. Their
witness traces the story of Christ’s passion, and the power of silence, and darkness suggests the drama of this momentous day.
As the disciples abandon Jesus one by one, their lights are extinguished and we ponder the depth of Christ’s suffering and death.
“This is a profound and moving event that will change the hearts of those involved and bring a deeper understanding of the price paid for our salvation,” event spokeswoman Barbara Partanen said.
