Mike Prusi to speak at SERA May luncheon

ESCANABA — Mike Prusi will present the priorities of the state government for members of the State Employee Retirees Association noon luncheon May 6 at the Highland Golf Club in Hyde.

Now the Upper Peninsula representative for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Prusi served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1995 to 2000 and in the Michigan Senate from 2003 to 2010, and was elected Senate Democratic Leader in 2008. Before his legislative career, Prusi worked for 20 years as an iron ore miner and served three terms as president of Local Union 4950 of the United Steelworkers of America.

The chapter meeting that follows will include a vote on some changes in the bylaws of the group and will include reports of activities of the statewide organization of 21 extant chapters.

All state of Michigan retirees are invited to attend the luncheon and meeting.

Arva Overton, Blue Cross/Blue Shield representative, will be at the meeting to discuss health care change. J. T. Tremors of Hantz Financial will talk about present benefits changes.
