IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Community Chorus is preparing for the upcoming “Music Under the Stars” concert that will be presented Sunday, July 21, at the Lake Antoine band shell.

In its 53rd season, the chorus will be under the leadership of principal conductor Crystal Hogan. Jan VanGasse will serve as the piano accompanist for the group. Many instrumentalists will accompany the chorus as well.

The theme for this summer’s concert is “Sing! Sing a Song,” to encourage the audience, young and old, to sing along to familiar songs about singing.

A children’s chorus will also be part of the July 21 concert. The children’s chorus will be under the direction of Dawn Kranz.

Rehearsals will be 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, July 2, July 9 and July 16 in the Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church, 395 Hamilton Ave. in Kingsford.

There is no charge for membership in the chorus, and there are no auditions. However, prospective new members should possess some knowledge of choral singing.
