Quinnesec church offers summer programs

QUINNESEC — Quinnesec United Methodist Church has several new programs they are offering to the community during the summer.

They will “Gather ‘Round the Campfire” the last Friday of the summer months.

Activities planned are:

— Friday, lawn and board games played.

— Friday, July 26, special guests leading the group in songs and stories, and possibly some bluegrass music.

— Friday, Aug. 23, Tim and Ashley Lawrence and the Lake Lundgren Bible Camp crew will lead songs, stories and fill the group in what’s happening at LLBC.

The activities will begin at 6:30 p.m. Campfire-type snacks will be served.

They also will be offering a “Cool Zone” to members of the community during the warm summer days. QUMC would like to share their air conditioning during those extreme hot and muggy days starting in July. The church will open its doors from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We make this offer to all, but especially want to invite those with health issues and the elderly so they can be safe,” said Mark Rose, administrative council chairman. “We will open our doors on days that are 90 degrees to make your life more comfortable and safer.”

They encouraged those who come to bring a hobby, craft, book, game or puzzle, as the church has only limited activities.

“There might even be a cold glass of lemonade to sip,” Rose said.

QUMC will also offer Vacation Bible School program with Calvary Lutheran Church in Quinnesec. Dates will be announced soon.

The church is at River and Division streets in Quinnesec. For more information, call 906-774-7971.
