The Door County Cherry Pickers perform today in Cedar River
CEDAR RIVER — The Door County Cherry Pickers will perform from 3 to 7 p.m. Eastern time today at Hirsch’s Cedar River Pub.
Karen and Ken Stillman recall all the outrageous fun they had playing foot-stomping bluegrass for standing-room-only crowds in Cedar River.
The Stillmans, original members of Menominee’s popular Thunder Mountain Bluegrass Band, carry on the tradition with The Door County Cherry Pickers, a five-piece band of incredibly skilled, good-time musicians.
John Rood Lewis is a monster maestro guitar player, singer and recording artist. Terry Murphy is a seasoned guitar player, singer and a prolific songwriter, with six CDs of original songs to his credit. Pete Evans, a child prodigy bluegrass mandolin player, is hugely creative and dynamic. Add Ken Stillman’s awesome fiddle playing and Karen Stillman’s unbridled singing and standup bass slapping and you’ve got a hot band.
The band will offer vintage American music, cherry-picked bluegrass, country and rock favorites — the same kind of down-home music from the great ol’ days.
On Saturday, Alamo Jack will play a variety of music, from country to rock, from 4 to 8 p.m.
On Sunday, Matt Johnson will show his talented guitar picking from 4 to 8 p.m. in the dining room.
The Door County Cherry Pickers will be back at Hirsch’s Cedar River Pub from 2 to 6 p.m. Eastern time Sunday, July 21.
