Auditions set for ‘Matilda’

IRON RIVER — The West End Players has chosen Roald Dahl’s “Matilda the Musical,” to be directed by Jason Mattson, as its 2019 winter musical.

“Matilda the Musical” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International.

“Matilda the Musical” will be performed at the Windsor Center in Iron River will be at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13 and 14 , and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15.

Auditions will take place at 5:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 9 and 10, in the Windsor Center auditorium.

“We are looking to cast a total of 16 young children ages 7 to 11 for the school children characters and approximately eight to 10 actors 12 years and up to play older characters, such as school teens and adult roles,” Mattson said. “There will be specific song and reading requirements at the audition. Volunteers will also be needed for constructing and designing sets, painting, stage crew, lights, costumes and hair and makeup.”

Practices will be 5:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, plus on Saturday mornings as needed at the Windsor Center.
