Openhouse at Community Bible Chapel

Jim and Paula (Danielson) Roberts

NORWAY — Jim and Paula Danielson Roberts will present the work of Wycliffe Bible Translators beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Community Bible Chapel in Norway.

The Roberts are well-known in this area, as both graduated from Norway High School in 1980. They attended Moody Bible Institute, where Jim trained as a pilot and aviation mechanic.

They served in the Amazon region of Peru for eight years, where Jim flew missionaries to and from remote jungle locations, enabling the work of Bible translation among tribal peoples. They then lived in Lima, Peru’s capital city, where Jim was director over field programs and Paula worked in education. Most recently, the Roberts serve on staff at the international headquarters in Dallas.

Wycliffe Bible Translators, as the name suggests, focuses its ministry on the translation of the Bible into the heart language of any group in the world without Scripture. Wycliffe staff has completed translation of the Bible into more han 1,000 languages and has projects in progress in 1,700 of the world’s 7,000-plus languages. Along with Bible translation, Wycliffe missionaries collaborate with churches and other mission organizations to enhance the lives of those they serve through literacy, education and health programs.

Community Bible Chapel invites the public to join the friends and supporters of the Roberts to renew acquaintances, to experience an interactive translation demonstration, to learn about how Bible translation is done and how it affects the lives of minority language speakers.

They are hoping to visit with many of their longtime friends in the region, so all are invited.
