Page by Page Book Club meets Tuesday

Upcoming events at the Dickinson County Library include:

Month-long

— September is Library Card Sign-Up Month at all Dickinson County Library branches.

A library card puts a world of knowledge at your fingertips; sign up for one today. Any new patrons who sign up for a library card during September will be entered in a prize drawing. Existing patrons also can enter the drawing by either adding an e-mail address to their account or confirming the e-mail address currently on file.

Tuesday

— Page by Page Book Club, 6 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Book selections and reading guides are available on the website at www.dcl-lib.org/norwaybookclub or at the main library. New members are welcome at the monthly book clubs.

Sunday

— All branches of the Dickinson County Library will be closed for the Labor Day holiday.

Monday, Sept. 2

— All branches of the Dickinson County Library will be closed for the Labor Day holiday.

Tuesday, Sept. 3

— Regular, year-round hours resume at the main library in Iron Mountain and Solomonson branch in Norway. Winter hours begin at the North Dickinson Branch in Felch Township: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays and Fridays, 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

— Animal Tales, 10 and 11 a.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Take a walk on the wild side with animal-themed storytimes for kids from birth to age 5. Each week will feature a different creature, such as cats, crocodiles, pigs or elephants. Sessions will include stories, songs, activities and crafts.

Thursday, Sept. 5

— Directed Discussions, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

This is an open forum with Library Director Megan Buck. Bring questions, suggestions or concerns about library services. No appointment is necessary.

Saturday, Sept. 7

–Fourth annual Dickinson County Library Block Party, 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Celebrate the library with an outdoor extravaganza featuring entertainment by folk musician Corinne Rockow, refreshments, information about library resources and a prize drawing to win a Kindle Fire. In case of inclement weather, the program will take place inside the library. All ages are welcome. This is sponsored in part by a Superiorland Library Cooperative Programming mini-grant.

Monday, Sept. 9

— Animal Tales, 10:30 a.m. at the Dickinson County Library-Solomonson Branch in Norway.

— Bow Wows and Books, 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Learning to read doesn’t have to be intimidating when a furry friend is listening. Kids of all ages are invited to read aloud to therapy dogs Thor, an English mastiff, and Clara, a Yorkshire terrier, in this popular monthly program. Call 906-774-1218 to reserve a time slot with either or both dogs.

Wednesday, Sept. 11

— A Novel Bunch Book Club, 2 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library-Solomonson Branch in Norway.

New members are always welcome at our monthly book clubs. This month’s book is “The Keeper of Lost Things” by Ruth Hogan. Even those who haven’t read the book can still listen in and vote on upcoming selections. Go to www.dcl-lib.org/norwaybookclub to view a reading guide and past selections.

Thursday, Sept. 12

— Directed Discussions, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library-North Dickinson Branch in Felch Township.

— How to Train Your Ozobot, 6 to 7 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library-Main Branch.

Teens and adults will learn simple computer coding concepts with the help of the Ozobot Evo robot and some markers. Participants can draw different color patterns and watch the robot do tricks.
