Women’s Giving Circle taking nominations for award through Sunday

MENOMINEE — The Women’s Giving Circle of Marinette and Menominee Counties, a committee of the M&M Area Community Foundation, will award more than $11,000 in grants at its annual gathering and grant ceremony from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, in the main building at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Marinette Campus.

The event is open to the public and will include hors d’oeuvres, raffles, prizes and more. A $5 donation per person is suggested at the door. This event is the Women’s Giving Circle annual fundraiser.

The Women’s Giving Circle began in 2008 when an anonymous donor made a gift to the Community Foundation to support women’s philanthropy.

The Women’s Giving Circle Restricted Endowment is designated for supporting projects and programs for women and girls in Marinette and Menominee counties.

The theme of this year’s event is “Dress to the Nines.” The WGC invites attendees to wear their best dress attire and encourages them to bring a friend.

The program will feature awarding of grants and a presentation of the sixth Queen Marinette Award.

This award recognizes a woman whose work has had a positive effect on the lives of women and girls and who actively helps them achieve their personal and professional goals.

Nominations may be made online via a link available on the WGC’s Facebook page at facebook.com/wgcmarinettemenominee.

Deadline to submit nominations is Sunday, Sept. 1.

To attend the event, contact the Community Foundation at 906-864-3599 or kerri.weigal.mmacf.org. Giving Circle members also can update their contact information.
