Laylin celebrates her 104th birthday in Crivitz

Irene Laylin recently celebrated her 104th birthday Sept. 12 with family and friends.

CRIVITZ, Wis. — Irene (Dallapiazza) Laylin turned 104 on Sept. 12. Her family had a celebration of her life at her residential facility, New Care in Crivitz, Wis., which included a bingo party, cake and sharing facts from her birth year in 1915.

She was born Sept. 12, 1915, in Norway. She graduated in 1933 from Kingsford High School.

In 1938, she married Charlie Laylin in Pembine, Wis. They had one child, a son, Darrell Laylin.

She worked for more than 30 years at Briggs and Stratton along with her husband, she in administration and he in die cast.

After retiring, they moved back to Pembine where they enjoyed country living, traveling, camping, being active members at Grace Lutheran Church and snowmobiling.

Her favorite memories include camping at Riversbend in Iron Mountain. Her secret to living so long? “Take everything one day at a time.”

The family will celebrate six generations in December, when she welcomes her great-great-great grandson, Lukas Perkins.
