Tickets on sale for ‘Wizard of Oz’ musical at Bay College

ESCANABA — Bay College will honor the 80th anniversary of the beloved classic film “The Wizard of Oz” with a community theater adaptation that opens Friday, Nov. 1, and runs through Nov. 9 at Bay College’s Besse Theater in Escanaba.

“The Wizard of Oz” is a full-scale production directed by Jamie Peterson with musical direction by Travis Dubord.

This high-quality stage adaptation of the classic story will have state-of-the-art flying equipment, robotics, and an exciting collaboration of more than 100 community volunteers.

Bay College now has tickets on sale.

Performances will be 7 p.m. Eastern time Friday, Nov. 1, through Saturday, Nov. 9.

Matinees also will be performed at 1 p.m. Eastern time Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 2 and 3.

General admission tickets are $15 and can be purchased at www.baycollege.tix.com or at the Besse Center box office during regular business hours.

The Besse Center also has a “Wizard of Oz”-themed art exhibit on display until Nov. 12, featuring more than 40 art entries depicting “Wizard of Oz” topics such as childhood, play, home, utopia, mortality, witches, family and more. The public is encouraged to view the exhibit and vote for their favorite piece deserving of the Audience Choice Award.
