Local author visits Florence Elementary

Florence Elementary School students gather with local author Benjamin M. Feldhausen, his son, Luke, and his truck, both of which are featured in his book, “Beast from the Boondox.”

FLORENCE, Wis. — Local author Benjamin M. Feldhausen recently visited Florence Elementary School to talk about his book, “Beast from the Boondox.”

Feldhausen first came to the school last spring to read from his book.

He returned to Florence this fall with his truck and his son — both prominent characters in the story — so students could meet both of them.

Ben and his son, Luke, both are avid outdoorsmen, and the story is based on one of their adventures. With Luke as the main character, the book also features references to his family, family pets and the vintage Ford truck.

Feldhausen delivered an inspirational message to students focusing on the importance of education, safety, respect, sportsmanship and encouragement to pursue passions. It is a message he has delivered to thousands of youngsters as part of a program he has developed over the past several years.

Feldhausen has shared his story with many local schools and has been featured as part of numerous other venues, including Cabela’s annual Ice Fishing Classic.

The father-son duo now are partnering with industry leaders, having joined the Clam Outdoors Pro-Team and also being named as brand ambassadors for Jiffy ice augers.

The book is available at numerous Upper Peninsula business outlets and also globally on Amazon.com.
