CRYSTAL FALLS — Eleven Northwoods Readers Book Club members gathered Dec. 19 at Fobs Restaurant party room in Crystal Falls to celebrate Christmas, sharing lunch and discussion about the December book selection, “Stranger in the Woods,” by Michael Finkell. The discussion was led by Donna Capello of Caspian and Audrey Rudolphi of Iron River.

The group found the book, “The Stranger in the Woods,” published in 2017, fascinating.

It is the story of Chris Knight, a true hermit who at age 20 in 1986 walked away from his family and life to dwell in the woods of northern Maine, surviving 27 winters without fires or contact with other humans except one encounter.

Book club members selected the Salvation Army to receive their annual Christmas gift of $75 cash. Kay Krall delivered the gift to the Salvation Army office in Kingsford, to be used as needed.
