Elephant and Piggie Party at the library Saturday

Joel Tacey will bring his Wacky Winter Comedy Show to the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6. All ages are welcome.

Saturday

— Take Your Child to the Library Day: Elephant and Piggie Party, 10:30 a.m. at the Solomonson Branch Library in Norway and 1 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day with parties all about Mo Willems’ children’s book duo “Elephant and Piggie.” Children in preschool through second grade will enjoy a storytime, crafts, and activities, and then receive a free book to take home.

Monday

— Read the Rainbow Storytime, 10:30 a.m. at the Solomonson Branch Library in Norway.

Learn all about the colors of the rainbow at these storytime sessions for children through age 5. Miss Crystal will have stories, songs, crafts, and activities to inspire your child’s imagination. The next storytime sessions start in March with the theme, “Opposite Tales.”

— Bow Wows and Books, 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Kids of all ages are invited to practice their literacy skills in an accepting environment by reading aloud to friendly therapy dogs. Thor, an English mastiff, and Clara, a Yorkshire terrier, are your partners in this reading adventure. Call the library at 906-774-1218 to reserve a 10-minute time slot with either or both dogs.

Tuesday

— Read the Rainbow Storytime, 10 and 11 a.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

— Tech Connect, 4 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Lego Club has evolved, and the library is sure kids will love the change. Each month, Tech Connect will introduce kids in third through eighth grades to a different type of fun design or building technology. Plus, they’ll continue to offer Legos to kids who prefer to build the old-fashioned way.

February sessions will focus on Bloxels, which allow kids to design their own video game levels with colorful squares, an app, and imagination. If you would like to save your level and play it at home, bring an iPad, iPhone 6 or higher, Android Galaxy Tab 8 or higher, Nexus 5 or 5p, or Kindle Fire 8 or higher.

Thursday, Feb. 6

— Directed Discussions, 2 to 4 p.m. at the North Dickinson Branch Library in Felch Township.

This is an opportunity to speak with Library Director Megan Buck in an open forum, to bring questions, suggestions or concerns regarding library services. No appointment is necessary.

— Tech Connect, 3:30 p.m. at the Solomonson Branch Library in Norway.

— Wacky Winter Comedy Show, 6 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Joel Tacey will present a fun comedy program with a winter theme for all ages. Activities include Silly Snowballs, Mischievous Sled, Multiplying Candy Canes, Endless Cup of Hot Chocolate, and more. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Saturday, Feb. 8

— iPhone Demo for the Visually Impaired, 10 to 11 a.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Linda Lieburn, who is visually impaired, will give a demonstration on how an iPhone works for people who are blind, or have low vision, low literacy or dyslexia. For adults and teens.

Monday, Feb. 10

— Read the Rainbow Storytime, 10:30 a.m. at the North Dickinson Branch Library in Felch Township.

Tuesday, Feb. 11

— Read the Rainbow Storytime, 10 and 11 a.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Wednesday, Feb. 12

— A Novel Bunch Book Club, 2 p.m. at the Solomonson Branch Library in Norway.

New members are always welcome at the monthly book clubs. This month’s book is “An Irish Country Doctor” by Patrick Taylor. Those who haven’t read the book still can listen in and vote on upcoming selections. Go to www.dcl-lib.org/norwaybookclub to view a reading guide and past selections.

Thursday, Feb. 13

— Directed Discussions, 2 to 4 p.m. at the Solomonson Branch Library in Norway.

Friday, Feb. 14

— Level Up! Gamers Club, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Solomonson Branch Library in Norway.

Calling all video game enthusiasts in fifth through ninth grades. This month’s featured game is “Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.” Other games will be available to play, depending on participants’ interests.

Saturday, Feb. 15

— Odyssey Seekers Club: Spy Science, 2 to 3 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Kids in third grade and older will be ready to crack any case after participating in activities such as Fingerprint Lab, Invisible Ink Three Ways, and Make Your Own Magnifiers.
