Quilt presentation set for Monday

NORWAY — Jeanette Zychowski will give a PowerPoint presentation on her quilting research at 2 and 6 p.m. Monday at the Jake Menghini Museum of Norway.

Zychowski, a quilter for more than 20 years, became curious about how and when quilting began. Zychowski did more than four years of research into the history of quilting, from the time of the pilgrims to now.

Zychowski has been a member of the Saintly Stitcher’s Quilt Guild of Norway for several years. Before that, she was a member of the Spinning Spools Quilt Guild of Iron Mountain for about three years.

The information will include quilts done by early American settlers, the Civil War era for safe houses and the underground railroad, Amish quilts and on to the present day.

The Saintly Stitcher’s Quilt Guild will assist Zychowski with a “bed turning” of 20 quilts, as well as with the presentation.

The Saintly Stitcher’s Quilt Guild also will have various hand-made quilts, barn quilts and many other items for sale during their presentation.

“The Jake Menghini Museum looks forward to seeing quilters and history enthusiasts at this wonderful PowerPoint presentation,” said Cris Hamlin, museum director.

Admission to this event will be by donation to the museum.
