Sponsors needed for Run Iron Mountain races

Half marathon and 10K participants at the start of the 2022 Run Iron Mountain races.

IRON MOUNTAIN — Run Iron Mountain will celebrate its 11th year of racing on Sept. 23. The race will feature a half marathon/relay, 10K, 5K and 2-mile distances.

In addition to offering outstanding racing events that bring hundreds of people into the area each fall, the Run Iron Mountain Half Marathon gives back to the community.

Since 2012 the race has donated $149,500 to the Dickinson County Cancer Unit Loan Closet, which is a nonprofit that loans medical equipment to cancer and noncancer patients at no cost to the recipient. The Run Iron Mountain Half Marathon also provides an annual scholarship to an area high school senior.

In 2023, another charity which does important work in the area, has been selected to receive a portion of the proceeds the Run Iron Mountain Half Marathon receives each year.

The Northwoods Airlifeline is a nonprofit made up of volunteer pilots across the U.P. that provide the gift of transportation to children and adults saving them critical travel time when in need of medical care.

The 2022 2-mile and 5K participants kick off their runs.

To assist the Run Iron Mountain Half Marathon in supporting these nonprofits that provide essential services for the people of the community go to RunIronMountain.com to register to run or volunteer.
