IRON MOUNTAIN – A special event will be held to raise money for the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign.

The Wine Tasting Fund-raiser is slated for Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Pine Grove Country Club starting at 5:30 p.m.

“In addition to having a fun, relaxed evening of tasting new wines, we will be supporting a great cause and spending time with great friends,” said YMCA Board Member Katie Maxon.

The Wine Tasting Fund-raiser features heavy hors d’oeuvres with matching wines, prizes, a few select drawings, music and a cash bar.

The evening will begin with social time at 5:30 p.m., which includes a special champagne pour, followed by hors d’oeuvres and wine from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

All attendees will be provided a wine glass, hand decorated by YMCA day camp youth, to take home with them.

“We are thankful to our event sponsors – Bacco, Marquette General Hospital and Bink’s Wine,” noted YMCA Director Jonathan Ringel.

“Their support of this event directly impacts our financial assistance program, allowing us to provide scholarships and support to community members who otherwise may not be able to take advantage of YMCA services,” Ringel added.

So far this year the YMCA has provided $25,000 in assistance to local residents, and expects to exceed $50,000 in assistance by year end.

“Your support is vital and we encourage everyone to come out and attend the Wine Tasting Fund-raiser,” organizers added.

Tickets for the event are just $40 a person or $75 per couple and are available at the YMCA front desk or by phone at 774-4076.
