Five promoted at First National Bank & Trust

IRON MOUNTAIN – Five employees of the First National Bank & Trust Co. of Iron Mountain have received promotions, according to an announcement from Dave Kashian, president and chief executive officer.

Steve Faust has been promoted to executive vice president and chief lending officer.

He started his career at the bank in 1978 in consumer lending. In 1985, he was promoted to manager of installment lending. Faust was then named assistant vice president in 1988, followed by vice president in 1993 when he took over the bank’s marketing responsibilities and created the marketing department.

He transitioned to commercial lending and continued to market the bank in 1995. In 2010, he was again promoted to the business banking manager and in 2013, he was named senior vice president and chief lending officer. Faust is now responsible for overseeing all lending functions at the bank.

“Steve has been a dedicated employee of First National Bank & Trust for nearly 40 years. His leadership and experience is invaluable in our successful execution of the bank’s strategic vision,” Kashian said.

Faust graduated from Northern Michigan School of Banking. He is also a graduate of the Michigan Bankers Association School of Commercial Lending, and he attended the American Bankers Association School of Bank Marketing at the University of Colorado.

During his 37 years at First National Bank & Trust he has attended numerous banking schools and trainings.

He is currently serving on the Upper Peninsula Travel and Recreation Associations (UPTRA) board of directors and has been for the past 26 years. Faust has a long-standing history of community involvement serving on numerous different boards and volunteering his time with multiple organizations.

James Moln has been promoted to senior vice president and human resources, branch administration, and operations.

He has been with the bank for 21 years, starting as branch manager in 1994. Moln was promoted to assistant vice president in 1998, and began his work with branch administration and human resources. He transitioned to vice president in 1999, and he took on operations in 2005.

“Jim continues to lead the bank through the myriad and ever-changing human resource landscape as well as administering our ever growing branch network. Without his leadership, we would not be as successful as we are today,” Kashian added.

Moln graduated from Northern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He completed the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and he also graduated from the Advanced Human Resource Management Program through the Graduate School of Banking.

He continued his education by graduating from General Lending School at the Robert M. Perry Schools of Banking at Central Michigan University.

Nate Goudreau has been promoted to senior vice president and chief risk officer.

He joined the bank in 2012, and is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the enterprise wide risk management system including overseeing the implementation of the bank’s compliance program, loan review, and internal/external audit plan.

“Nate’s risk management expertise and management experience adds significant depth and breadth to our outstanding senior management team,” Kashian said.

Goudreau brings more than 27 years of banking experience, most recently serving as the senior vice president assistant director compliance and community reinvestment act director for Associated Banc-Corp. in Green Bay Wis. He was there for 25 years, working out of their Green Bay and Milwaukee offices.

Goudreau is a Niagara High School graduate.

Michael Smock has been promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer.

He joined the bank in 2014, and is responsible for all internal and external financial reporting, for developing and implementing the organization’s financial strategies, and for managing the bank’s accounting and operations teams.

“Mike’s significant management experience and broad knowledge of financial services and products will be an invaluable asset to our organization as we continue to grow and expand,” Kashian noted.

Smock has more than 30 years of banking experience, including providing commercial banking expertise in Upper Peninsula communities during the past 28 years.

He most recently served as interim president of Peninsula Bank in Marquette County prior to joining First National Bank & Trust.

Ashley Boyer has been promoted to the position of marketing director.

She joined the bank in 2012, and is responsible for the development and implementation of short- and long-term strategic marketing plans for new and existing products and services, eBanking products and services, and delivery systems that capitalize on business opportunities that grow new client relationships and deepen existing client relationships.

“Ashley’s enthusiasm and fresh perspective will further enhance the bank’s marketing function as we continue to expand into new markets and help us to continue to attract new clients within our existing markets,” Kashian said.

Boyer graduated from Lake Superior State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She will be attending the American Bankers Association School of Bank Marketing and Management this summer.
