LSSU club sponsors accounting conference

SAULT STE. MARIE – Business ethics expert, consultant and author Chuck Gallagher will be the featured speaker when Lake Superior State University’s Accounting Club hosts its annual Superior Accounting Conference on Friday, May 22.

The program is open to anyone interested in accounting and business practices, and those who are seeking continued education in the field. The conference runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Walker Cisler Center.

Price to attend is $150 for professionals and $40 for students. Registration includes a continental breakfast, buffet-style lunch and a certificate verifying CPE credits.

Gallagher may have found a sales niche early in life by selling potholders door to door, as well as convincing folks to fund a record album of his musical performance at age 16, but it was the school of hard knocks that provided a fertile training ground for his lessons in success. Described as creative, insightful, captivating, and a person who connects the dots between behavior, choices and success, Gallagher gives his clients what they need to turn concepts into actions and actions into results.

In the middle of his career, Gallagher lost everything because of some bad choices. He has since rebuilt his career and his life and has found great success. With more vulnerability than the average keynoter, he shares his life journey, the consequences of his unethical choices, and how life gives you second chances when you make the right choices.

The session’s programs include: “The Human Side of Ethics” and “What’s Your Strong Suit – Identifying Your Communication Style,” and “The Many Faces of Fraud,” all presented by Gallagher, as well as “Updates in Accounting, Auditing and Taxation,” and “Quickbooks Refresher – The Basics and Beyond,” both by representatives from Anderson, Tackman and Company.
