First National Bank plans shredding event for Aug. 22

IRON MOUNTAIN – The First National Bank & Trust Co. of Iron Mountain is sponsoring their fourth annual Shred Fest on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 9 am to noon in the parking lot of the former Timbers Motor Lodge located on U.S. 2 across from the main branch of the bank..

The First National Bank & Trust has once again retained Country Mile Document Destruction Inc. of Stephenson to have their state-of-the art mobile shredding truck and staff at the shred site.

“Onsite and in your presence, you will oversee your confidential documents shredded immediately. After all data has been destroyed, Country Mile recycles the paper residue,” a spokesperson said.

This service is free for everyone in the community – residents, home office workers, community organizations and small businesses.

To make the process efficient, please bring only paper documents with personal information to the shred site, in paper bags or cardboard boxes. CDs/DVDs, credit cards, staples and small clips can also be put through the shredder, but please make sure that there is no large binder clips, metal ring binders, plastic covers, books or other contaminates in your papers.

If you are unsure if it can be destroyed at this event, just separate it from your paper documents so a “Shred Fest Crew” member or Country Mile staff member can evaluate it.

First National Bank & Trust reserves the right to refuse materials that will jam or damage the shredder.

Donations will be accepted during this event. All proceeds will be given to the Veterans Assistance Fund.

According to the Office of Veteran Affairs for Dickinson County, this fund fills the gap for local veterans that served in peacetime and do not qualify for the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund. This program is funded solely by local donations and Super One/Econo Foods receipts.

Veterans who need help with past due utilities, rent/mortgage, auto payments or repairs and other unforeseen household repairs are provided interest free loans with monthly payments they can afford. All principal repaid is used to help additional veterans.
