UPPCO provided grants totaling $108,317 in 2014 for worthwhile causes

ISHPEMING – Upper Peninsula Power Co. (UPPCO) provided direct grants valued at $108,317 to non-profit organizations, associations and worthwhile community causes in 2014.

Each year, UPPCO awards such grants to eligible entities located within the utility’s service territory.

More than 150 organizations representing various interests received funds from UPPCO in 2014. In addition, UPPCO employees and retirees also assisted various charities through various means.

“UPPCO has and will continue to be a proud community supporter,” said Dave Forsberg, manager of community, public and government relations.

“We have always been in the community investing not just in electric lines and renewable energy but people and organizations. UPPCO believes in giving back. Anything UPPCO can do to make the Upper Peninsula a great place to live, work, retire and raise a family is what our company is all about,” Forsberg added.

Contributions in 2014 included the following categories: Arts and Culture; Community and Neighborhood Development; Education and Lifelong Learning; Environment; and, Human Services and Health.
