IRON MOUNTAIN – An open house will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lenore Nelson Agency Inc. office in Iron Mountain.

The event will include free food – brats, hamburgers, chips and drinks. The office is located at 200 W. Ludington St.

Nelson opened her office on Aug. 15, 2000. She decided to select Meemic Insurance Co. to fulfill the insurance needs of teachers, superintendents, bus drivers, crossing guards and any other people working for a school district.

Meemic Insurance Company was created by a group of seven teachers in 1950 established to provide the highest quality auto, home, boat and liability insurance protection with coverages tailored exclusively to members of the educational community at an affordable price.

Meemic is still delivering on that founding vision to serve the educational community in Michigan and expanded to Wisconsin in 2013 and Illinois in 2014.

Since 1992, the Meemic Foundation has been supporting educational excellence through funding programs and other partnership initiatives.
