Maruszczak receives volunteer scholarship

IRON MOUNTAIN – As an involved community member, Shelby Maruszczak has devoted numerous hours thoughtfully helping others and improving her community.

This is why Shelby, a member of National Mutual Benefit (NMB), was recently awarded its National Volunteer Service Scholarship. This scholarship recognizes volunteer action in a student’s community or school, and honors those dedicated to learning, as well as serving others.

Shelby, daughter of Stan and Alice Maruszczak of Armstrong Creek, Wis., started volunteering at age six and attends UW-Eau Claire.

National Mutual Benefit recognizes the need to improve the quality of life for people at every stage in their lives. With the increasing costs of a college education, NMB is proud to assist its young adult members achieve their educational goals. To date, National Mutual Benefit has awarded more than $400,000 in national scholarships.

National Mutual Benefit, a not-for-profit fraternal benefit society based in Madison, Wisconsin, serves more than 40,000 members and their families. NMB members are joined together through local chapters for charitable, educational, patriotic and volunteer opportunities. Members also have the opportunity to purchase life and disability income insurance and annuities.

Last year, NMB members donated more than 110,000 hours serving families in communities where they live. Established in 1902, NMB celebrates 113 years of fraternal service to people of all ages, from all walks of life.
