IRON MOUNTAIN – The Dickinson-Iron Community Services Agency (DICSA) is now operating out of its new location at 1238 Carpenter Ave. in Iron Mountain, and an open house event is planned for next month.

Sandie Essendrup, DICSA executive director, said that the move from DICSA’s former home in the Crystal Lake Center began in mid-October and was finalized in early November.

The public will be invited to check out the new facility during an open house on Tuesday, Dec. 15, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Representatives from DICSA’s various programs and DICSA board members will be in attendance. Refreshments will be served.

DICSA offers many assistance programs such as the Family Ties adult day care program, which provides care for individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other debilitating diseases. While these individuals take part in activities and get a chance to socialize, their regular caregivers get a respite and time to accomplish other daily responsibilities.

Other programs include home weatherization, food commodities for low-income families, congregate and home-delivered meals for senior citizens, in-home services for senior citizens, transportation, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, support services for veterans and their families, emergency needs and fuel assistance, and tax preparation assistance for seniors and low-income families.
