Christmas in Florence today

FLORENCE, Wis. – The sixth annual Christmas in Florence will take place today from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Enjoy a jolly time with your friends and neighbors, support your local economy, and win a door prize,” said Wendy Gehlhoff, director of Florence County Economic Development. “Buy unique Christmas gifts from 52 vendors, businesses, crafters and non-profits at the Christmas Shopping Bazaar in the community center, fire hall and rescue hall buildings.”

There will be many other activities in addition to shopping.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at 11:30 a.m. to take part in the official Blessing of the Trees in front of the community center.

Children can sit on Santa’s lap to take a picture at the rescue hall while listening to Mrs. Claus read Christmas stories. Also in the Rescue Hall kids can create their own Christmas craft projects with help from the Florence High School TORPEDOS group.

“The cozy horse drawn wagon rides through town are always a big hit thanks to the First National Bank of Niagara sponsorship,” Gehlhoff said.

Homemade chili will be sold at the community center as well as hot dogs, Christmas cookies, coffee and hot chocolate with proceeds funding Chamber of Commerce projects.

This event is free and will feature many door prizes.
