Kulman to retire Dec. 31 as senior loan officer at FFCU

NIAGARA, Wis. – After nearly 24 years in the financial services industry, Michelle “Micki” Kulman will be retiring on Dec. 31, as the senior loan officer at Forward Financial Credit Union, officials announced.

She began her financial career working as a teller for the Wisconsin Marine Bank on S.16th St. in Milwaukee, from 1967-1968.

After her marriage, she relocated back to Niagara and was employed as a cashier with LeQuia’s Food Store from 1970-1973, and then left to stay home with her children.

Kulman was back in the workforce as a cashier at Marcouiller’s Foods in 1990, and worked there until 1993.

Denise Sauld, who has worked with Kulman most of her tenure, recalls prodding her to leave her cashier position at the grocery store to work at the credit union. Sauld’s patience paid off when Kulman joined the credit union on March 9, 1992, as a part-time teller, she recalled.

Kulman kept her part-time job with Marcouiller’s until 1993, when she accepted a full-time position with the Niagara Area Credit Union, now known as the Forward Financial Credit Union.

By 1998, she had moved to the loan department but retained a dual role as teller and loan officer.

“Over the years, Micki has maintained a ‘following’ like no other loan officer. Her deep understanding caring ways, and empathetic attitude to all our members’ needs have earned her a reputation as the ‘go to’ loan officer,” credit union officials said.

“We wish Micki many happy years of retirement; but there will always be an unfillable void with her absence at this credit union.”

“Micki Day” will be celebrated at Forward Financial Credit Union on Wednesday, Dec. 16. There will be cake and coffee and a chance to congratulate her on her retirement.
