IRON MOUNTAIN – McDonald’s is collecting nonperishable items to help support the children and families of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of eastern Wisconsin through Dec. 12.

In 2014, 10 percent of families who stayed at the house were from the Upper Peninsula, and 41 percent were from Northeastern Wisconsin.

Iron Mountain and Norway McDonald’s owner Steve Kilian Jr. is happy to help with the drive.

“The Ronald McDonald House is such a positive place that provides hope for families in need or with a sick child. This year we really wanted to get our guests involved. The generosity and donations made by our guests will be greatly appreciated by the families staying at the House,” Kilian said.

Nonperishable items can be brought to Iron Mountain or Norway McDonald’s lobbies.

Items on the giving tree wish list include ramen noodles, peanut butter, canned soup, macaroni and cheese, individual snacks, cereal, canned tuna and chicken, Kleenex, any size batteries, and one-step meals

There are many ways that the Upper Peninsula community can support the house Kilian added. People can collect pop tops, host their own fund-raiser and volunteer – just to name a few.
