Dickinson County Healthcare System employees honored at annual banquet

IRON MOUNTAIN — The annual employee awards banquet at Mike’s On Main in Norway is a long standing tradition for Dickinson County Healthcare System.

Each year, three groups of employees are honored with a special meal, congratulatory comments, and a gift: Employees of the Month, Special Mention Employees, and Nursing Award recipients.

Twelve employees are honored as Employees of the Month.

Nominated by their peers, these employees make a positive impact on the quality of care that is collectively provided and improve the lives of patients as a result.

Like the Employees of the Month, Special Mention Employees have been selected by their colleagues as being role models and for giving the best of themselves each day as they interact with patients, co-workers, and community.

Those honored at the banquet included: Klara Grondine, Sue Hadley, Darryl Johnson, Peg Freeman, Peter Rittenhouse, Darla Hanson, Diane Granquist, Deb Hanson, Carolyn Hoy, Sara Fleming, Nancy Griffith, Eileen Sparpana, Jeanette Oberlin, Erin McIntyre, Jessica Sinnaeve.

Finally, winners of the Nurse Excellence award, Preceptor of the Year award, and Rising Star award are recognized at this annual banquet. Nurse Excellence winners are recognized for the following:

— Improving the quality of clinical nursing practice through their leadership,

Demonstrating expertise in nursing practice;

— Serving as a patient advocate;

— Improving the image of nursing at Dickinson Memorial Hospital and within the community, and

— Demonstrating outstanding patient rapport.

“These recognition programs establish standards to which all employees can aspire,” stated John Schon, Administrator / CEO. “The annual banquet is a way of expressing our gratitude and is a wonderful reminder to all of us of just how many exceptional people are employed by our healthcare system.”

The following nursing awards were presented, Sara Fleming, RN (Nurse Excellence Award), Diane Granquist, LPN (Nurse Excellence Award), Sadie McGillviray, RN (Rising Star), and Joy Bortolini, RN (Preceptor of the Year).

Award recipients not present included: Denise Fayas, Dr. Kenneth Friar, Michael Ghere, Sarah Lucas, Julie Weber and Brittany Wender.
