Forest Park students qualify for BPA national conference

Zac Stoor and Avery Sommers, seniors at Forest Park High School, have qualified for the Business Professionals of America’s national conference.

CRYSTAL FALLS — Forest Park seniors Zac Stoor and Avery Sommers qualified recently for Business Professionals of America’s national competition.

Stoor took first place in the state in the Banking and Finance event. Sommers took fifth place in Desktop Publishing.

The National Leadership Conference is taking place May 9-13 in Dallas. At this competition, students are participating in business related events and competing for the top spots in the nation.

Business Professionals of America is a national youth organization that provides leadership and business opportunities for high school students to prepare them in their selection as they make decisions on their future careers. The skills that students learn through participating in a variety of business experiences are beneficial and will help prepare them for a career in the workforce. It is part of an education program designed to develop leadership abilities, competency in business occupations, and interest in the American business system.

The cost of this competition is too much for school districts to provide. Fundraising efforts for sending them to the national competition are underway.

If anyone would like to help, please send your contribution to: Forest Park High School, Attn: BPA, 801 Forest Parkway, Crystal Falls, MI 49920.
