Arrest made in Ishpeming drive-by shooting

ISHPEMING — An Ishpeming man has been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting Aug. 28 in Ishpeming.

Brandon Lee Schiefel, 24, was arrested Thursday without incident on a 12-count felony warrant issued by the Marquette County Prosecutors Office, according to a release issued by the Ishpeming Police Department.

The charges include one count of assault with intent to murder; one count of discharge of a firearm in or at a building; one count discharge of a firearm from a vehicle along with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon/felonious assault and six counts of felony firearms, officials said.

The maximum charge of assault with intent to murder carries a penalty of up to life in prison.

Schiefel was among three individuals sought as persons of interest within 24 hours of the shooting.

No injuries were reported from the incident about 10 p.m. Aug. 28 at 635 Iron St. in Ishpeming. The Michigan State Police Crime Lab assisted Ishpeming police in collecting evidence at the site, the release states.

The investigation is continuing, and anyone with further information is asked to call the Ishpeming Police Department at 906-486-4416.
