MARINETTE, Wis. — A man from the Kaukauna, Wis., area was found dead Sunday morning in a crashed vehicle in the town of Stephenson in central Marinette County.

Hunters reported discovering the body about 6:20 a.m. inside the upside-down vehicle off Parkway Road near Allie Way and Orr’s Lane, according to the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office.

An investigation determined the vehicle had been southbound on Parkway Road when it lost control on a curve, striking a culvert, embankment and trees before coming to rest on its roof. The vehicle was cold when discovered, indicating the crash had happened hours earlier, Sheriff Jerry Sauve said in a news release.

No name was released for the 36-year-old, who was alone in the vehicle, pending notification of his family. This was Marinette County’s eighth traffic fatality for 2018.

Twin Bridge Rescue and the Stephenson Fire Department assisted at the site. The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s department and Marinette County coroner.
