Man jailed after firing shotgun in mobile home park

IRON MOUNTAIN — A 40-year-old Iron Mountain man was arrested Wednesday night after police received a complaint he had discharged a shotgun several times in the area of Park Ridge Mobile Home Park.

It was reported about 11:43 p.m. that the man, who was intoxicated, left in a car while still armed with the shotgun, said Edwin Mattson, director of police and fire services.

Police located the vehicle about 10 minutes later on Oslo Avenue, where the man was taken into custody on numerous criminal charges and the weapon was recovered, Mattson said.

There were no injuries.

The suspect is in the Dickinson County Correctional Center pending a review of the complaint by Dickinson County Prosecutor Lisa Richards.

No further information will be released until the man is arraigned in 95-B District Court, Mattson said.

Police were assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Kingsford Public Safety Department and Michigan State Police.
